Throughout the casting process, Bodrov worked with Guka Omarova, a Kazakh filmmaker. “Guka is a great casting director,
and I asked her to help me on MONGOL. We went together to Mongolia, and spent a few weeks there. She found
this really
unbelievable boy, Odnyam Odsuren, who plays young Temudgin.”
